Keeping it Simple: Solar Eclipse in Virgo: Sep 22

The Solar Eclipse on September 22 falls at 29Virgo - the very last degree of the sign, also known as the 'this is your final chance and final warning to "get" it done, learn the lessons of the entire sign before making room for a new energy in your life, to enter a new phase.

This New Moon on Sep 22 is also a BLUE MOON - the name given when a New Moon falls for the second time in a sign within the year. Last Month the New Moon fell in Virgo, and on September 22 the New Moon falls again in Virgo, this time coinciding with a Solar Eclipse.

Eclipses usually reflect major changes here on Earth. Just as things pull at our heart strings at the lunar Eclipse (moon = collective unconscious, emotions) we lost Steve Irwin, causing global grief. With the Eclipse in Pisces, Steve's death was water related as we have already discussed, affecting the emotional tides on the earth.

The Solar Eclipse then will affect Sun affairs (our egos, our bosses, our authority figures in general - leaders, presidents, popes and all heads of state etc.)

The Sun is our life force, and during an Eclipse we find a renewal, after a moment when our light is 'cast out' and overshadowed. Then when our light returns, we see things differently. Things we never saw before. We make decisions that affect our entire lives, our central reason for being.

Already the Sun and Moon are both in Virgo now - notice how many people are cleaning, organizing their lives, making lists, getting 'on top' of it all, worried about their health and bodies or just feeling an irritating sense of 'I need to make things better, improve myself'. Who the heck knows how just yet - but the answer will come around this Eclipse.

If you haven't already read it, digest the last posting on this Virgo new Moon - this time round it is intensified and you are urged to 'crack its code'. Here it is again for you.

Whichever house the Eclipse falls in will see massive changes and new directions over the course of this next 12 months (you can find out through the posts previously written or listen to the recorded forecasts and read the extended ones at my website this week!)

Ring the changes in your own life. Get cleaned up in the House your Eclipse falls in. Learn the lessons - a clear mind and a clear space shows you're ready to bring in something new. That you're capable and willing to accept a new direction. Virgo is a mutable sign - flow, bend to the changes, and adapt to the fluctuations.

Virgo wants purity somewhere - purity of purpose (10th house) purity of creation (5th House) purity of outlook (1st house) purity of body (6th house) purity of consciousness (12th house) and so forth. Purity doesn't mean being clean, non-sexual and an angel. It means having a strong sense of who you are, and fulfilling a needed service on the planet and in your own life. Avoiding excess and avoiding feeling a victim of any life circumstance.

Cracks may show now, faults may appear and you may be criticized - but its time to stand strong in the house your Eclipse falls in and realize you can improve your lot in life instead of bemoaning your 'fate'.

Roll up your sleeves, see what's not working and fix it. If it can't be fixed then perhaps it's meant to be imperfect. If so, let it be and continue on ahead.

Solar Eclipses are times to do something totally new. Break out. Go a new way. try a new approach, perfect old approaches. Push yourself forward. Please only the voice inside, and your own internal parent and authority figure (and you'll experience less pressure from the ones outside of you).

We'll discuss the Eclipse through events on the planet as they manifest. For now - plan on a major clean out, and clean up. Virgo relates to our bodies and our jobs on this planet - true health is borne of knowing your mission, providing a service, doing a good job and caring about UPKEEP - a Virgo once told me that "all life is upkeep".

This Eclipse, make sure you're on top of 'upkeep'. Just as our bodies need regular focus, just as we constantly need to stir soup in case it burns on the stove, so too do our lives need a constant checkup - mess happens, dust happens, things slide, fall apart, need repairing or improving.

This period, we become more OCD - but that's fine. Stand back and see how you can make it better. Get involved. It's an exciting time. How good does it feel when we make something better? Like a nurse happy her patient is finally well, a waiter tipped handsomely for being of service, a mother who patches up her kids grazed knee (and the kid who is happy he's been soothed), and the satisfaction we have when we can actually step on our floors without tripping over old newspapers, magazine or dirty laundry - this Eclipse we'll see a widespread need for ORDER, amidst times of changing chaos, fluctuating feelings. Sometimes to be grounded and at peace, we just need a clean space to start from.

After a period of hard work, pull back, slow down and see that it really is more simply than you realize. Just as life is made of simple building blocks, our journey is made of stepping stones. Each solid step forward leads to greater security and peace of mind. Just one single step.
Having a quiet, comfortable and empty space (or at least a clean one) is a first step in the direction of keeping 'on top' of things.

A place of 'inactivity' is necessary now. Find yours or create it. Keep it simple. We don't really need much, though we bog our lives down with stuff - mostly anxiety. All we need is a create sacred space where there's just us and our purpose. If we can't find our purpose yet, just us and our next step. Live by a list if you have to now, but what really needs doing and what does your soul need, and what do others around need from you now? No clutter, no outside distractions or negative thoughts holding you back. Purity of mind, body and soul.

Work should never be work. It should be a reflection of your soul's reason for being. It should be a service you provide not only to yourself through satisfaction, but outwardly to others as a service to them. Most people are out of synch with their inner jobs, instead leading the life of someone else.

Astrology can help us along the way here - in finding our mission, our reason for being, and the many possibilities we have. If you haven't had a chart reading or ventured into your own Blueprint, now is a great time to schedule a Reading, check out a Report, and find out more about what you NEED as opposed to what you think you want. We're not here to coop ourselves up in work just to pay bills, but to find things that are, in essence, a reflection of our Soul.

We are what we do. Who are you, and what are you doing?

Love,
Neil

Neil,

Your blog, brilliant as always, captures the essence and purity of this "new beginning" with the Jewish hoilday of Rosh Hashana, the Wiccan holiday of Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox (balance) and the solar eclipse all falling on the 22nd! Talk about a day of seriously life changing power, far more than usual this year. Your entry here pretty much says it for all of them combined, as your astrology usually does.

The only thing that struck me as a rather harsh blow is the final comment: "We are what we do."

Hmm... well, if that's the case! Jeez. We might as well all end it now. LOL

We are not what we do. What we do is what we do. And we do it to grow what we are. There's the physical plane of existence, which as you'll agree I'm sure is only about 1% of what all is really out there, and then there's where our divinity and soul resides in the 99% realm.

If we are what we do, we should choose to be peniless, stand out on the corner and work towards our own spiritual enlightenment every second of every day.

If we are what we do -- and Lord knows we do enough bad things --then we must not be born in a higher being's "image" or made up of the same material.

If we are what we do -- some people are better human beings than others.

If we are what we do, there certainly should be no such thing as forgiveness.

If you're someone who believes that we are what we do, chances are you expect perfection out of yourself and out of others around you -- and feel very let down and disappointed when they don't quote-unquote "come through." But perfectionism is for the Gods. We are mortals. It's truly toxic, striving for perfection (ie. allowing yourself to become "OCD" about certain things in life) as it is born of the disease to please. We should only strive for completion and recongize there will always be the darkness and the light in everything we do. If we're out for perfection, we're involved too heavily in our own ego and fighting for something that doesn't exist.

I'll say it again because I think it really bares repeating: We are not what we do. What we do is what we do. And we do it to grow what we are.

Just a thought. Hope you have a great New Year! ;-)

Thanks for your thoughts.

Let me explain further (to help you think and see wider from this larger perspective):

We are what we do. Just as we are what we eat. We are what we think.

Why? Because we become that which we focus on. It may not be our true self, (your point) but we do become it. We are all connected. If we focus on disconnection, we become disconnect and embody disconnection. We 'are' disconnection then on some level of material manifestation.
It may not be our 'real, ultimate self' but we do become it. Look around for a testament to that disconnection embodied on this plane right now.

Let us not forget this. We are what we do - our jobs do define us, as much as we let them of course, but isn't what we do a sign of what we value? No one is forced to work of course, we choose it based on decisions we value, based on what we what to be, not want to be (poor?) and so forth.

Are we an expression (work wise) of our soul? This is our choice at the Virgo New Moon.

We are what we focus on. We become that which we energize.

We don't need to get 'stuck' on this level of being something we do not enjoy, but we do become what we energize, there is no escaping this.

Who said anything about being perfect?! It's not about that.
it's about being a living embodiment of our Spirit. Then everything we do, is a reflection of that.

But...wait...isn't everything an embodiment of Spirit. So we already are Spirit. Everything we do, eat, think, make love to, ignore, fight and threaten is us. We are what we do. We are what we see.

We are all that is.

Make sense?

Thanks for your input, great to hear your thoughts!

Jason,

Justv has another enlightening thought I wanted to follow up on - I think often we give ourselves grief for ehat we do - or why would be so outraged to be told 'we are what we do'. A judgement made on what we do, can hamper the creative expression of who we are. It's time now to accept and embrace and stand by what we do, without justifying or making excuses. That in essence is the Virgo Eclipse. Hope that helps shine a bit more light on this theme this month! Who cares what we do, as long as we feel good. As they say you can tell a lot about someone based on what they continually do. Habits can become habit forming! And habits form character.
I'm a walking dessert case in that case...

<< We are what we do. Just as we are what we eat. We are what we think. Why? Because we become that which we focus on. It may not be our true self, (your point) but we do become it. We are all connected. >>

But if it isn't REALLY your true self, then you never become it at all, do you? That's buying into an illusion. I'm not an alligator just because I choose to eat it. Everything is certainly connected because everything carries that spark of the divine within it, even darkness itself, of course, but let's not forget that soul is individual. The rock that falls from the mountain is still made up of the same particles as the mountain -- but it is NOT the mountain, nor is it the rock that fell before or after.

<< If we focus on disconnection, we become disconnect and embody disconnection. We 'are' disconnection then on some level of material manifestation.
It may not be our 'real, ultimate self' but we do become it. >>

You seem to be schluffing off the idea of the "ultimate self," when isnt' that what we're really supposed to be focusing on here? Again, I think this comes back to illusion, too. Can we really become disconnection? Is there connection within disconnection? Is there light within darkness merely waiting to be revealed? Yes, of course.

<< Let us not forget this. We are what we do - our jobs do define us, as much as we let them of course, but isn't what we do a sign of what we value? >>

Absolutely it's a sign of what we value! But that still doesn't mean it's who we are. ;-)

<< Are we an expression (work wise) of our soul? This is our choice at the Virgo New Moon. We are what we focus on. We become that which we energize. We don't need to get 'stuck' on this level of being something we do not enjoy, but we do become what we energize, there is no escaping this. >>

Ahh, okay. I think ultimately we agree with each other here. I would've just phrased it differently, personally, but to each his own. I'd have said: "You get what you give," as opposed to "You are what you give."

<< Who said anything about being perfect?! >>

Well, if what we do is a mirror reflection of our SOULS, then Neil isn't that an awful lot of pressure to put on oneself? That's striving for an unachievable perfection.

<< It's about being a living embodiment of our Spirit. >>

Well now we're just getting down it, lol! I'm Gnostic, Neil, so I wouldn't agree with that for a second. I believe becoming a living embodiment of your Soul is impossible on this physical plane. That happens after death. That's why angels are in heaven and not here on Earth.

On the other hand, you didn't say Soul. You said Spirit. Which are very different things, so... if we're still stuck on speaking about this physical plane here and talking about Spirit, sure, again we agree, "You get what you give."

BUT your spirit ain't who you are either! lol :-P It's not the soul. I don't walk with that misconception.

<< But...wait...isn't everything an embodiment of Spirit. So we already are Spirit. Everything we do, eat, think, make love to, ignore, fight and threaten is us. We are what we do. We are what we see. >>

Spirit is individual too though! Which spirit? There's the fighting spirit, there's the dark spirit, there's fucking school spirit.

<< We are all that is. >>

Maybe you are. I'm not. I'm "connected" to all that is, but I am not all that is. I'm not God. I'm *A* God. But I'm not THE G-d. Nor am I the soil or you. But we're connected and have been.

<< I think often we give ourselves grief for ehat we do - or why would be so outraged to be told 'we are what we do'. A judgement made on what we do, can hamper the creative expression of who we are. >>

TRUE ENOUGH!

<< It's time now to accept and embrace and stand by what we do, without justifying or making excuses. That in essence is the Virgo Eclipse. >>

Interesting! Rosh Hashana and Mabon are all about evaluating what it is that you want to embrace, accept and stand by and what it is you want to say goodbye to (what you were saying about simplifying your life).

<< Hope that helps shine a bit more light on this theme this month! Who cares what we do, as long as we feel good. >>

...and isn't hurting another person.

Happy new year, Neil! xo

I love that you you're so fired up about this! Great passion.

Basically its all semantics I think. This Virgo Eclipse is asking us to do work that we enjoy and feel connected to, not for the sake of just going through the motions.

We are not trying to reach for spirituality while on the earth plane - I think many of us miss the plot here. We ARE spiritual leading physical lives - so perfection is an illusion but isn't it all?> Doesn't mean we can't have a heck of a good time enjoying striving for something (why else get out of bed!)

So this Virgo Eclipse says, lets get physical! Our work, our bodies - it is illusion, but it's still 'real' o the physical level. We're not physical beings reaching for spiritual perfection, this Eclipse asks us to remember we're spiritual beings here having a physical experience, so we shouldn't forget that and aim to enjoy perfecting ourselves on the physical levels - which is ulimtately reflected on ethereal and higher levels - just as disease first manifests energetically and is filtered into the physical body as a last stop, so too does our physical cleansing and perfecting and discipline filter upwards, helping us reconnect to more of our 'real' selves, which in turn recharges us.

I'm not not talking about beliefs here - Astrology surpasses religion and ideologies and beliefs. This Eclipse has a special flavor and 'what we are doing' is the key this time round.
